Competition Cheer

Congratulations to the LNHS Varsity Competition Squad who took first place at Minnetonka High School and qualified for the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida. They were the highest scoring high school team of the day and received Grand Champs.

Track & Field
Congrats to the track and field athletes who had a very nice section meet this past weekend. State Entrants include:

  • Caitlin Weber - 1st place - new section and state record in the pole vault at 11-6
  • Trevor Jellum - Qualification in 3 events: Triple Jump, Long Jump and 110 High Hurdles
  • Tyler King - 1st place in 1600m, near miss in 800m with 3rd place
  • Girls 4x100m. and 4/200m.Relay: Katrina Nicholson, Sophie Lasko, Rachel Banham, and Kristi Levin.

Near Misses included: (top 2 athletes and 1 relay qualify for state):

  • Boys 4x100: 3rd place: Nick Nelson. Shedrick Agyei, Johnny Anyaogu, and Cole Banham
  • Girls 4x800m. 2nd place by less than two inches - Megan Smith, Nicole Flack, Marie Ferguson, and Michelle Volz
  • Caitlin Caraway - 3rd place in Discus
  • Nick Nelson - 3rd in 100m. and 3rd in 200m

The state meet will be held this Friday and Saturday at Hamline University. Events start at 9:00 a.m. each day.

Boys' Golf
Congratulations to the LNHS Boys Golf Team for winning the Section 1 Golf Tournament by 14 strokes. The Panthers will now compete in the State Tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids. Team members include: seniors Josh Bruder, Jake Endersbe, and Ryan Petersen; juniors Keith Cornwell and PJ Ganske; and sophomore Tyler Goss.

Girls' Golf
Congratulations to the LNHS Girls Golf Team for winning the Section Golf Tournament and qualifying for State. Team members include: Laura Petterson, Nikki Slepicka, Traci Johnson, Jessica Brion, Kendra Brion, and Lauren Saby. This is the first time the girls' golf team is going to State. The girls won 9 of the 12 invitationals they entered. Laura Petterson was medalist at both the conference and the section tournaments.

Boys' Swimming
Congratulations to the Boys Swim team for finishing 8th at State. Also, Paul Young is State Champion, All-State, All-American, and holds the School Record in the 100 backstroke.

Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to the Girls' Volleyball Team on winning 3rd Place at the State Tournament!

Girls' Swimming
Congratulations to the Girls' Swim Team on an 11th place finish in the state tournament. Danielle James won second place in the breaststroke with a time of 1:05.91, which is an All-American consideration time.

Football
Congratulations to the Football team - our section champs fought a tough battle against Cretin-Durham Hall in the state quarter-finals.

Cross Country
Congratulations to the Girls' Cross Country Team - 5th place at state! The Boy's Team finished 15th, led by a a 3rd place finish by Tyler King.
