Wild Card Procedure

Swimming & Diving True Team Wild Card Procedure

Automatic Qualifier for True-Team State Swimming and Diving Meet.

1. For class AA, A girls and class AA boys all true-team section champions will advance. For class A boys all true-team section champions and true-team section runner-ups will advance.
2. If a true-team automatic qualifier (see 1 above) elects not to go to the true-team state meet the "next" team will advance in its place. We will go no further than the "next" team (only 1 "next" team is possible, 2nd place for AA, A girls and AA boys, 3rd place for A boys). All other teams will need to advance through the wild card format. This "next" team becomes an automatic qualifier. If the "next" team also decides not to compete at the true-team state meet an extra wild card team spot will be made available.

Wild card qualifier

1. The next TWO teams from each section(behind the automatic qualifiers from above) will have their teams’ times and diving scores from the section true team meets put into invitational meet format exactly the same as the true team section meets. The meet will be scored using the format exactly the same as the true-team section meet (first place in an individual event will be worth the number of possible entrants in the event, relays will be double individual events). The top 2 teams will advance. If a section elects not to send an automatic qualifier (from above) then wild card positions will be added accordingly.

Tie – Break for Wild Card

1. If a tie occurs for the last available wild card position, an 8 lane dual meet scoring format(refer to rule book) will be used to select which team will advance.
2. If a tie still occurs, NISCA power pts will be used for all performances at the Section True Team meet, with the higher team advancing.
